Szechuan First Restaurant: Reviews & Ratings
I discovered this place about three years ago and have been coming back ever since. The food here is consistently authentic and hits exactly the way real Sichuan/Szechuan cuisine should. My go-to dishes are the Chongqing spicy chicken, eggplant in hot garlic sauce, fish in black bean sauce, Sichuan boiled fish, and dan dan noodles. Honestly, you can’t go wrong with any of them. Everything is incredibly flavorful, and the spice truly hits home. For anyone unfamiliar with Sichuan/Szechuan food, a heads-up that many dishes use chili oil, but it’s aromatic and intentional, not greasy. The staff are always pleasant and friendly, which makes the experience even better, and the prices are unbeatable for the quality and portions you get. I’ve introduced this restaurant to several friends over the years, and they’ve all loved it too. If you’re looking for real-deal Sichuan/Szechuan food, this place is a must. I’ll definitely keep coming back
Great place for Quick spicy lunch, price is reasonable in the SEATTLE area. order 1 m soup and one beef spicy both taste, authentic and good. There are many selections if you don’t like the spicy food. I was here a couple times, but this is his worst review. I will for them since price increased. I will try other dishes too. Parking is a little hard for lunchtime and weekend. I will park in the back.
I ordered with Uber eats. While ordering,I forgot to mention 'No MSG'. However, few minutes after placing order, I called the resturant and requested for 'no MSG'. They told me that my food has already been prepared but they will make the item again without MSG and told me not to worry. This was very unexpectly Kind behaviour since I was ordering with Uber eats! As usual, the cumin lamb was great. Will definitely order again when I want to eat szechuan! Very great and kind!
More like 3.5 stars but I'll round up to 4 since it'd be sad to round down. We ordered 16 items for takeout at a certain time. By calling to place the order, each dish is about $1 cheaper than if you order online from the google site. After I called, I got a text message with status updates which was really cool. Food was ready right on time for the time slot I wanted. Dishes that were good: Short ribs like the Garlic Short Ribs and the Short Ribs in Brown Sugar. General Tso's Chicken. Mongolian beef. Dishes that were meh: beef and broccoli (broccoli was overcooked, too soft), the Black Mushroom in Vegetable was oily. Baby Bak Choy in white sauce was greasy-ish. Pork in Peking sauce was waaay overcooked and tough. Orange Chicken was not great. For a large takeout, it's convenient and the prices are fair. But nobody cared for the food in our party.
The lunch special is a must have. Soup of your choice AND a whole plate of protein of your choice AND two whole bowls of rice for only $11?! Incredible! And at night I dream of their Szechuan fried fish. So light and crunchy and spicy... As a Chinese person, I give it 5 gold stars. Some of the best southern Chinese cuisine I've had.
Delicious Delicious Delicious I don't think I would go anywhere else for dumpling soup or pickled vegetables and fish should or Garlic Eggplant or any other food, you HAVE to give it a try you will love it!!!
In Seattle (Kent) and found this little place. The food was amazing!!! Spicy with bold flavors. Good sized portions for decent prices.
Szechuan First Restaurant is a hidden gem, a standout for authentic Szechuan cuisine that packs real heat and bold flavors, think numbing Sichuan peppercorns and fiery chilies in every dish. It’s a casual spot in a strip mall, nothing fancy on the outside, but inside, the aromas draw you in right away. We love the house special chow mien. Portions are generous for around $12-18 per entree, and the lunch specials make it an easy value pick. Service is friendly and quick, even for takeout, though it can get busy on weekends, call ahead if you’re in a rush. If you’re craving genuine Chinese heat without the Americanized sweetness, this is your spot; spice levels go up to 5, so start mild if you’re new to it. Definitely worth the short drive from Tacoma!
